During CBC’s announcement of their fall programming, it was revealed that the miniseries Everest, filmed back in early 2007, will air this fall. In the mini, Zach plays photographer Blair Griffiths, who was one of the first to die during the 1982 Canadian expedition to Everest.

Yonder’s song “Let You Down” appears on Podcast #151, a little over halfway through the show. Host Grant Lawrence made a couple of errors, however, that I will note here.
1) Skywalk to Crescent Town was NOT recorded in Havelock, ON; it was recorded at Chemical Sound in Toronto. Their three-track demo EP Jesus Freaks, on the other hand, was recorded in Havelock; and “Let You Down” was not one of the tracks on the EP.
2) Grant called the track “Lay You Down”. The title is “LET You Down”. (The on-site playlist shows the correct title. It’s accessible on the Radio 3 website by clicking on “Podcasts/Shows” and then selecting “Read More” under “The CBC Radio 3 Podcast”. After this week, select “#151 - Winnersleep” from the large drop-down menu.)
All the same, congratulations, everyone!
The Varsity, the student newspaper for the University of Toronto, recently rated Yonder’s debut album Skywalk to Crescent Town 4 “V’s” out of 5. A couple of quotes…
“The result is an extremely well-crafted album that combines elements of Wilco’s alt-country and Arcade Fire’s anthemic indie-rock into a memorable and unpredictable 55 minutes.”
And…
“Yonder’s songs also benefit from a slew of talented musicians but also from Bennett’s obvious attention to detail — there are no sloppy shortcuts here. Even the packaging is top notch.”
Don’t forget that if you’re in the GTA for Canadian Music Week, Yonder will be playing a set Thursday night at the Cadillac Lounge at 11 pm (show starts at 9 pm). See the sidebar for details.

I hope the b’day is a good one. ;)
(Okay, I posted this a day early on both accounts; but still!)
More deets regarding Yonder at Canadian Music Week…
They will be playing on Thursday, March 6, at the Cadillac Lounge on Queen Street West in Toronto. At this time, it is unknown with whom they’ll be sharing the stage. Joining them will be Jenn Marino, Ryan Shearing, and The Schomberg Fair. The showcase starts at 9 pm, with Yonder’s set starting at 11 pm.
Wristbands, which will get one in to most of the showcases and anything else that’s going on under the CMW umbrella, are $35 CAD each and may be purchased now. I’ll have more info on single-showcase tickets once it’s available. Tickets for this showcase cost $8 either in advance or at the door.
